Reel Time Fun: Cast A Line And Fish For Free On Saturday
Texas Parks & Wildlife is hosting its Free Fishing Day in Texas, and there are several places around the Houston where the fish are biting.
There’s almost nothing as relaxing to do on a warm summer day than to bait a hook and cast your line, hoping to land the catch of the day. This Saturday, the Texas Parks & Wildlife is hosting its Free Fishing Day in Texas, and there are several places around the Houston area where the fish will likely be biting.
One of those places is at Herman Little Park in north Houston where the Timberlane Utility District and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department have partnered to bring a new Neighborhood Fishin’ program site to north Houston residents.
Channel catfish will be stocked prior to the grand opening, and each person fishing can keep up to five fish per day with no minimum length limit. This event takes place fro 9 a.m. until noon.

But there’s more fish to catch at Sea Center Texas in Lake Jackson. From 8 to 10 a.m., anglers are inviting to bring their lawn chairs for this free youth fishing event. Stick around and take the tour. Explore aquaria and exhibits of Texas marine life, the largest redfish hatchery in the world, 36 one-acre fish culture ponds, an outdoor wetland exhibit and a 20-foot touch pool that allows visitors to gently touch marine animals.
Young anglers can also take in a little salt water fishing right off the pier at locations in Galveston, Port Arthur, Port Aransas, and Matagorda. Click here and find those locations.
