What privacy?

How to get your information off the internet for good.

I recently had the opportunity to get into a free class sponsored by AARP in Houston where identity theft victims, or anyone else, can learn to get their information off the internet, removed from professional databases used by private investigators, debt collectors and even the police as well as suppress public records.

For three hours not one person yawned. All eyes were on Valerie Good. What she has to say is nothing short of mind blowing. First of all, Ms. Good is an expert on fraud, data and people deliberately hiding to evade arrest and child support. She owns a business right here in Spring that locates assets for deadbeat parents so the court can seize those and liquidate.

She's been doing her job for over 23 years and she told me personally that her cases are so entertaining that she rarely feels the need to turn on the television. She says with great fondness for the challenge, "People are interesting."

Round after round of questions were asked and answered. I think that if there was not a class scheduled to come in that room that we could have easily been there all night. The workbook is laid out with a bit larger font for us old blind folks and it's laid out in an intelligent manner. There's around 130 pages and the book is large with a beautiful matte cover.

On a more personal note, Valerie has lived here in Spring since 1996 and her son went to Spring ISD schools. She grew up in north Houston off the Eastex Freeway between Parker and Tidwell, very close to where I grew up. She attended MacArthur with her older brother and was a real bartender in Houston for 15 years while raising her son and going to school. I can tell she never meets a stranger and nothing so far that I've seen, has caught her off guard.

Here's why I am voting for Valerie Good...

CRIME
We know this isn't getting any better. I don't think the Harris County Constable's office and the Sheriff's office can hire fast enough to keep the crime at bay. When I asked her how she plans on making our neighborhoods safer she explained that the motels along the North Freeway in Spring are a constant worry for crime and could possibly be the reason why Spring, Texas has 3000% (three thousand percent!) more missing children over the national average.

Stopping short of rioting, Ms. Good explained exactly how to make the motels clean up their act and hold them accountable for allowing drug crime to continue in the motels. She laid out a three point plan which is pure genius. She promised me this is the first bill she plans on filing when she wins the election. She also explained what can be done before the bill is passed to force the motels into complying with code. This is going to make them spend money and when they spend money to be compliant they'll raise their rates which would have a domino effect of forcing the crack heads to go into someone else's neighborhood.

PRIVACY
This is to be expected from the kind of experience Ms. Good has working insurance fraud and investigations. When you take the class, you'll learn all about what we don't have and what thin protections we have which aren't even enforced by the police.

PROPERTY TAX REFORM
Everything you watched and heard about the Texas Legislature passing a roll back of ONLY 2% will make you sick to your stomach and angry at the same time. There is a enormous oversight that Ms. Good explained (I'll let you hear it from her in person when you take her free privacy class) and this is a hot point with her as well, she is angry about it and if she is angry and she's our State Representative, I know she'll make it happen.

Remember that her website is ValerieGood.com and follow her on Facebook at http://facebook.com/Goodfor150 and Twitter is http://twitter.com/GoodforTexa...
She has been quick to respond to messages and will be announcing her AARP Unlocate Me privacy class locations and dates. Check back on my Patch to find new dates as well.

I'm excited about Valerie Good. JUST VOTE GOOD!
