5 Thanksgiving Events to Catch in Sugar Land
Patch presents a list of five events to celebrate the spirit of Thanksgiving.

SUGAR LAND, TX - This year, Thanksgiving falls on Nov. 24, which means celebrations are abound and just around the proverbial corner, and in the spirit of gratitude and felicity, Patch shares a list of five events for readers in the Sugar Land area to explore post-feast.
- Sugar Land Turkey Trot: The 31st, annual Sugar Land Turkey Trot, happening Thanksgiving day on Nov. 24, has been voted Finish Line Sports's favorite race. The Thanksgiving morning tradition is set to include a costume contest, with donations of canned goods, warm clothing and running shoes to be accepted for the East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry prior to the race.
- Giving Thanks 5K/10K and 1K Kids' Fun Run: Bel Inizio hosts its third, annual Giving Thanks 5K/10K and 1K Kids' Fun Run on Saturday, Nov. 19, beginning at Sugar Land Memorial Park. Participants will receive a "Giving Thanks" t-shirt, and participating children will receive a medal. The event is open to individuals of all ages and fitness levels, with the option to run or walk. Registering the day before the Fun Run guarantees a discount. Refreshments—coffee, bagels and breakfast tacos—will be available afterward. The event will also feature door prizes and a live DJ. Attendees are welcome to stick around after the Fun Run has ended for a free, community, fall festival.
- Before Thanksgiving Was Thanksgiving: Members of the Sugar Land community are invited to journey back in time at George Ranch Historical Park with an exploration into the holiday's harvest festival traditions. Meals cost $15 for adults (ages 13 and older), $12 for children ages 5-12 and $4 for children ages 4 and younger. - Meals on Wheels with Sugar Land Rotary: The Rotary Club of Sugar Land has planned a Meals on Wheels service event for Wednesday, Nov. 23 for seniors in the Sugar Land area, an initiative that provides local, homebound, elderly citizens with hot, nutritious meals. Interested volunteers may contact the Sugar Land Rotary via (281) 610-1957 to learn how to get involved.
- Farmers Market at Imperial: The Sugar Land Farmers Market at Imperial, in the spirit of post-Thanksgiving cheer, will host a turkey puppets activity for children on Saturday, Nov. 26. The day's itinerary, extending from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., will also feature live music with Steve Liam, featured vendor 4 Paws Gourmet and featured food by Sweets by Susan.
