Father Accidentally Backs Over 3-Year-Old Daughter: Police Say
A child was killed Tuesday when her father accidentally backed over his 3-yedar-old daughter
SUGAR LAND, TX — A 3-year-old girl was killed Tuesday morning when her father accidentally backed over her while moving his car, police said. The accident happened at about 10:30 a.m. in the 6300 block of Logan Creek in Sugar Land.
Investigators were initially told that the father put his 3-year-old daughter and her 4-year-old sister in the car, started the engine to run the air conditioner, and ran in the garage to get something.
The children's father claimed while he was away from the car, the children got out of the back seat, that the 3-year-old girl got out of the car and her 4-year-old sister sat in the front seat and accidentally put the car in reverse.

Police later learned that the 4-year-old child was actually sitting in the front yard and saw her father back up over her 3-year-old girl, killing her instantly.
According to investigators, police obtained a search warrant for a blood draw to determine if the father was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

A sheriff's department spokesperson said the father volunteered the blood draw and offered video surveillance from the home to help in the investigation.
Charges have not been filed in this case.
