Off Duty HPD Officer Involved in Fatal Collision in Fort Bend County
An off duty HPD officer was involved in a fatal collision in Fort Bend County.

HOUSTON, TX — An off duty HPD officer was involved in a fatal head on collision early on the morning of Friday, Aug. 12. The collision occurred on Beechnut Street between F.M. 1464 and Westmoor Drive, about two miles south of George Bush High School in the Mission Bend area.
The collision happened at around 6:30 a.m. when the off-duty officer's Tahoe drifted across the double yellow, dividing line and plowed into an oncoming Corvette head on. The driver of the Corvette died at the scene.
Fort Bend County Sheriff's Deputies reported the smell of alcohol on the off-duty officer and asked him to take a field sobriety test. When the off-duty officer refused the deputies got a warrant for a blood draw.

The off-duty cop was taken to Memorial Hermann — Katy for the blood work and for treatment of his injuries. Neither the name of the off-duty officer or the name of the Corvette driver have been released.
