Houston Area Schools Vying For The State Championship Crown
Fort Bend Marshall advance to their first state title game, East Bernard falls to Newton, now Shadow Creek and North Shore await their shot.

HOUSTON, TX —Four Houston area schools were vying for a chance to advance to the state high school championship game, and while one of those teams has already punched their ticket, ended their season in a close semifinal game Friday night.
In the 3A Division II semifinal game, East Bernard fell to Newton 21-14. Newton will now face Canadian for the state crown in 3A Division II.
Meanwhile, the 5A Division II semifinal game between Fort Bend Marshall and Corpus Christi Calallen proved to be a nail biter, with Marshall staying undefeated this year and downing Calallen 19-17. Marshall will face off against Aledo in their state title game.

Other games still on tap this weekend includes the 5A Division I semifinal game which kicks off on Saturday at 6 p.m., with Pearland Shadow Creek facing San Antonio Wagner at NRG stadium.

The winner will face the winner of the Highland Park-Denton Ryan who play at noon Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Dallas.
In 6A action, undefeated North Shore takes on Lake Travis in the Division I semifinal game on Saturday at 2 p.m. at NRG Stadium.
North Shore rolled to a 38-21 win last weekend over the Cy-Fair Bobcats, the 2017 State Champs.
If North Shore wins on Saturday, they will face off against either Duncanville or Allen in the state 6A Division I title game.
