Fort Bend County Historical Commission Gets State Award

The Fort Bend County Historical Commission was recognized by the State of Texas.

Richmond, TX -- The Fort Bend County Historical Commission was recently recognized by County Judge Bob Hebert for the efforts of its volunteer historians and preservationists.

The Texas Historical Commission issued the county's historical commission the THC Distinguished Service Award for accomplishments during the last calendar year.

The county historical commission performs many functions including the identifying, inventorying and protecting of historic cemeteries and structures.

Commission volunteers also record and transcribe oral histories given by key figures in the county and recognize outstanding accomplishments in historical and cultural preservation through the presentation of the annual Bert E. Bleil Heritage Award.
