George Ranch holding Father's Day workshops

The George Ranch is offering wilderness survival and black smithing workshops this Father's Day.


Sugar Land, TX -- Want to get dad something other than a tie this Father's Day? The George Ranch, 10215 FM 762 is holding pioneer classes on Saturday, June 18.

Participants will get exposed to frontier skills like fire-making and survival cordage, making ropes out of plants. The class is scheduled for 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. and is limited to 30 participants per session.

The blacksmith shop is also offering a basic introduction to smithing on Saturday. The workshops are scheduled for 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. and will give up to four participants an overview of some of the tools and techniques used during the 1890s.
