Missouri City Launching Public Transportation Service In August

Missouri City will launch its public transportation connector service with METRO on Aug. 26

MISSOURI CITY, TX -- Missouri City is planning the launch of a new public transportation connector service by the end of August.

The connector service will be provided by Houston METRO to the city for public transportation services within the city, as well as connecting to other METRO service areas, and provide services outside of the city, in some cases.

The radius of service within the city includes the Texas Parkway corridor, Lake Olympia Parkway, Colonial Lakes Drive and Cartwright Road, according to the Community Impact News.

“It’s different than what they call a fixed route bus service,” Assistant City Manager Scott Elmer told Community Impact News. “With a community connector service, people could actually call the METRO bus…and make an appointment to be picked up at their home and be brought to certain areas of the city and be picked up in that area at a specific time and then brought back to their home.”

The new connector service begins operation on Aug. 26 and will operate seven days a week.

The fare to go one way will cost $1.25.
