Residents Needed To Chart Future Of Solid Waste, Recycling In City Of Sugar Land

Sugar Land, TX - The city of Sugar Land is creating a resident task force to develop recommendations for the future of solid waste and recycling in Sugar Land.

Applications for the task force may be submitted at https://Volunteer.SugarLandTX.gov through June 13. Applicants must be residents of the city.

The task force will be appointed by City Manager Michael W. Goodrum and will meet twice a month from 6-8 p.m. through November. Recommendations will focus on future residential service levels based on extensive review and citizen feedback.

Part of the process will include the development of a statistically-valid community wide survey to ensure Sugar Land’s solid waste program aligns with community expectations.

The recommendation will be submitted to City Council following completion of the task force’s work.

“The intent of this comprehensive effort is to identify areas where we can improve,” said Goodrum. “It’s important that we continue to listen to our community and be responsive to their needs. I’m confident this process will achieve that purpose. It is yet another effort to build trust, transparency and confidence in governance through community engagement and involvement.”
