State Representative Ron Reynolds Released From Jail
Ron Reynolds, who won re-election from his jail cell in November, will be sworn in ahead of the 87th legislative session

CONROE, TX — State Representative Ron Reynolds, who was serving a year-long jail term in Montgomery County for barratry, was released from jail Friday and will be able to served in the upcoming legislative session.
Reynolds, 45, who began serving his sentence in September, won re-election to the state legislature in November after running unopposed.
He will be in Austin later this month to be sworn in when the legislature convenes for the 87th session.

Reynolds, a personal injury attorney, was convicted of five counts of barratry by a Montgomery County jury in November 2015 after evidence showed he'd worked with convicted felon Robert Valdez to obtain personal injury contracts for his law firm. Reynolds was sentenced to a year in jail and ordered to pay a $20,000 fine.
Reynolds, a Missouri City Democrat and a practicing attorney, became the first African American elected to his Fort Bend County District since Reconstruction when he won his seat in 2011.
