Sugar Land 2016 Olympic Update: Steven Lopez
Sugar Land alumnus Steven Lopez will be returning to the Olympic stage on Friday, Aug. 19.
SUGAR LAND, TX — Three-time Olympic medalist and five time world champion Steven Lopez will be competing at the 2016 Olympics in Rio on Friday, Aug. 19.
It will be the first time Lopez has competed in the Olympics in eight years, when he took bronze in men's taekwondo at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Previously, Lopez took gold in men's taekwondo at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney and the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
Lopez will be competing in the men's 80 kg division, which kicks off at 7:15 a.m. CDT on Friday.
