Sugar Land to Hold Property Tax Hearing on Aug. 23
The city of Sugar Land will hold a property tax hearing on Aug. 23 to discuss the proposed rate of $0.31595 per $100 of valuation.

SUGAR LAND, TX — If it's late summer then it's time to talk about property tax rates.
The city of Sugar Land is proposing a tax rate of $0.31595 per $100 valuation, the same as last year's rate. Since the proposed rate is above the effective rate of $0.30454 the city is legally required to hold two public hearings.
The first hearing will be at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, the second will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6, both hearings will be at Sugar Land City Hall, 2700 Town Center Blvd N., in Sugar Land.

The effective rate is the total tax rate needed to raise the same amount of property tax revenue generated last year.
Although, the tax rate is not going up it is possible that homeowners will see an increase on their property tax bill because the valuation of their property went up.
