“The award recognizes local governments that rank in the top 10 percent of all communities in the United States with regard to resident satisfaction with the overall quality of local governmental services, customer service and the value provided for local taxes/fees,” said ETC Institute Chief Executive Officer Christopher Tatham. “The city of Sugar Land is truly setting the standard in many areas.”
ETC Institute conducted a Citizen Satisfaction Survey for Sugar Land last year to measure and assesses citizen satisfaction with the delivery of major city services and help set community priorities for improved services and long-range planning. The results of Sugar Land’s 2020 Citizen Satisfaction Survey show that 98 percent of respondents rated the city as an “excellent” or “good” place to live and 97 percent rated the city as “excellent” or “good” place to raise children.

After receiving the results of last year’s survey, City Manager Michael W. Goodrum said: “There's a great deal to be proud of in this report. The intent of the survey was to identify areas where we can improve. As an example, we already used the results to aggressively pursue the next phase of sidewalk rehabilitation earlier than anticipated. We have invested more than $11 million in drainage projects in fiscal year 2021, with an additional $36.5 million planned over the next four years.”
