Sugar Land Patch's Holiday 2016 Event Guide

Patch tells Sugar Land readers where and how they can give back to their community this holiday season.

SUGAR LAND, TX - It is better to give than to receive, as the old adage goes, and opportunities to spread the gift of cheer are abound throughout the Sugar Land area, be it with a toy drive amid a holiday lights extravaganza or photo ops with Kris Kringle.

  • The Car Culture Meet for Texas Children's Hospital: Car enthusiasts are invited to a showcasing of 40 high-performance vehicles (hyper, exotics, sports, JDM and others), open to the public and free to attend, on Dec. 17 from 8-10 a.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy as a donation to the Texas Children's Hospital. The showcase will also feature live music by DJ Synergy and three parking garages.


  • Sugar Land Holiday Lights: The third, annual Sugar Land Holiday Lights opened Nov. 25 and will run every night through Jan. 8, 2017. More than 2.5 million lights will be displayed, and residents will be treated to an assortment of food trucks, shopping vendors, an appearance from Santa Claus and Texas's largest, inflatable snow globe.

  • Wreaths Across America: Members of the Sugar Land community are invited to honor fallen heroes with a collection of holiday wreaths that will be placed in Arlington National Cemetery, more than 1,100 additional locations throughout 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad on Dec. 17. Wreaths may be brought to Sugar Land Holiday Lights for $5 off ticket purchase.
  • Fort Bend Rainbow Room’s Holiday Children’s Festival: Happening Dec. 3 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sugar Land Town Square will host a holiday children's festival, comprising a day of fun, holiday activities for children of all ages and including inflatables and story time with a life-sized Elf on the Shelf. Toy donations will be accepted for the Fort Bend Rainbow Room's Christmas Project.


  • Photos with Santa: Sugar Land families are invited to enjoy a free holiday photo with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, as sponsored by Wells Fargo. Photos will be taken in the lobby of 16190 City Walk at Sugar Land Town Square. There will also be a collection of a new, unwrapped toys for the Fort Bend Rainbow Room's Christmas Project; donations will go to children and adults referred by caseworkers from the Texas Department of Family & Protective Services. Children may write letters to Santa, drop them in his on-site mailbox and will receive a return letter in the mail for a donation of $2. Photos with Santa will be held Sundays, Dec. 4, Dec. 11 and Dec. 18.
