In the lead up to Labor Day, Sugar Land PD is going to be looking on the highways for drunk drivers.

SUGAR LAND, TX — From Friday, Aug. 19, to Monday, Sept. 5, Sugar Land PD will be cracking down on drunk driving on the highways.
Convicted first-time DWI offenders face penalties that include up to $2,000 in fines, six months in jail, loss of driver’s licenses for up to a year and up to $3,000 in surcharges.

The STEP grant also provides overtime for year-round speed compliance in targeted areas, an extra resource that does not affect SLPD’s normal operations.
Speeding continues to be the number one factor contributing to accidents within Sugar Land. The police department uses crash data, speed surveys and information supplied by residents to identify those areas where additional enforcement is needed.
