There is plenty to do in The Woodlands area for All Hallows' Eve, but how will residents choose? The Woodlands Patch has its readers covered with a list of spooky, safe alternatives to the trick-or-treating tradition.
- Storybook Theatre Presents, A Halloween Scare in Texas: Oct. 28 from 11-11:15 a.m. at the Woodlands Children's Museum, Storybook Theatre will present "A Halloween Scare in Texas (Prepare if you Dare)" by Eric James, a fun and funny Halloween romp for children and parents. - The Haunting at Bear Branch - Trail of Treachery in The Cursed Wood: A family-friendly, festive event is planned at Bear Branch Park, located at 5200 Research Forest Dr., from 8-10 p.m. Members of the community are invited to throw on their favorite Halloween costumes for a frightfully fun evening, open to ages 9 and older, on Oct. 28 and Oct. 29. - Halloween Spooktacular: Avanti Senior Living of Shenandoah, located at 120 Vision Park Blvd., hosts its Halloween Spooktacular Oct. 29,2-4 p.m., with zero tricks and plenty of treats. Activities will include Halloween games, a scavenger hunt and pumpkin painting. Gourmet, ghoulish snacks will be served, with Witches Brew for children and Moscow Ghouls for adults. - Dia De Los Muertos Halloween Comic Fest: Space Cadets Collection Collection is set to host a themed Day of the Dead contest, featuring free candy and special comic books. Gift certificates, worth $500 for a shopping spree, will be awarded to contest winners.
- Truck or Treat: Truck or Treat comes to Town Greek Park on Oct. 30 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Fifteen food trucks will be on site. Activities will include bounce houses, pumpkin bowling, a costume contest and tickets to live music, available through the 4 Wheels Food Fest website. Entry is free for children 12 years old and younger as well as police, military, first-responders and teachers. The Truck or Treat event benefits Abundant Harvest Community Church of Brownfield.
