Thieves Steal Metal Detection Equipment Valued At $20K: Police

Thieves targeted a specialty store in The Woodlands and made off with thousands in metal detecting equipment, police said.

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Police are looking for two men who burglarized a metal detection store on Saturday night and got away with thousands in equipment. The break-in happened just before 11:30 p.m. at Metal Detecting Stuff, located at 1037 Pruitt Rd, in The Woodlands, according to police.

Investigators said two white men used a crowbar to pry open the front door, and once inside began taking a number of metal detectors from the display and others that were still in the boxes.

The two men were in and out of the store in just under three minutes. Montgomery County sheriff's deputies arrived at the store minutes after the two men fled.

The stores owner estimates that between 15-20 detectors were stolen valued at $15-20K. Police are looking for two white men, believed to be in their 40s.

One of the men had a slim build, and was wearing a tan striped long sleeve t-shirt, blue jeans, boots and a dark baseball cap. The second suspect was wearing a light blue pullover shirt, blue jeans and boots. He was wearing a white baseball cap, and also wore prescription glasses and had a mustache.
