The Woodlands Patch's Holiday 2016 Event Guide

There is plenty to do in The Woodlands this holiday season. The question is: how will readers choose? Patch has it covered.

THE WOODLANDS, TX - 'Tis the season to celebrate, and in the spirit of giving, The Woodlands Patch offers readers a collection of family-friendly, holiday events happening throughout the month of December.

  • Deck The Halls: Christmas creations are abound on Dec. 16 as The Woodlands Parks and Recreation invites families to a night of festive fun with DIY ornament crafting and tree decorating, with supplies provided. There will be cookies, hot cocoa and holiday music as well as a four-foot tree that will fit inside a large Sedan, SUV or truck. The event is open to residents of all ages and costs $60 per tree for residents, $70 per tree for nonresidents. Advance registration is required.

  • Mrs. Claus's Gingerbread House Workshop
    : The Woodlands Children's Museum welcomes children to spend a day with Mrs. Claus while constructing gingerbread houses with graham crackers, icing and candy. Tickets are $5 per child in addition to regular admission. Children age 2 and younger enter for free. The workshop is open to children ages 7 and younger; attendees must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Advance ticket purchase is recommended as space is expected quickly fill.   • Winter Wonderland
    : Members of The Woodlands community are invited to stop by Hughes Landing, nestled between The Woodlands Town Center and Research Forest, on Dec. 4 from 1-5 p.m. The event will feature reindeer, carnival games, balloon artists, face painters, holiday tunes and merchant booths.   • Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt: The Woodlands Department of Parks and Recreation will host a holiday hunt on Dec. 16 from 6-7:30 p.m. The cost of participation is $10 per resident (child) and $15 per nonresident (child), with a $5 sibling discount. "Hunters" will be treated to candy canes, hot cocoa and special presents from Santa Claus. Don't forget the flashlights! Advance registration is required.

  • Creekside Park Village Green
    : Hosted by The Woodlands Development Company and happening Dec. 3 from 1-5 p.m., the Creekside Park Village Green sets the scene for an afternoon of music, inflatables, caroling, games and Santa's reindeer as well as a a petting zoo and pony carousel. Parents are invited to bring their cameras for an opportunity to photograph their children with Kris Kringle himself. The Woodlands mascot Puffy Pine Cone will make a guest appearance. Families in The Woodlands area are invited to Rob Fleming Park, located at 6055 Creekside Forest Dr., on Dec. 17 at 6 p.m. for a screening of How The Grinch Stole Christmas at $8 per person. Attendees can pull out their blankets and lawn chairs for an evening of holiday cinema. The event will also feature photo ops with Santa Claus and an opportunity to create speciality popcorn.
