Woodlands Township Pays Tribute On Veterans Day At Town Green Park
The keynote speaker of the ceremony was Lt. Col. Barry Winnegan of the U.S. Army.

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (November 12, 2020) – Military men and women were honored by a large crowd at Town Green Park in The Woodlands on Veterans Day. The ceremony included a presentation of colors by The Woodlands College Park High School JROTC, a swearing-in ceremony for future soldiers and a care package drop-off booth for soldiers abroad.

Township Vice Chairman Bruce Rieser opened the event and was followed by U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady, who acknowledged the monuments in Town Green Park dedicated to the military and stated, “I love living in a community where we are all-in for our veterans.”
The keynote speaker of the ceremony was Lt. Col. Barry Winnegan of the U.S. Army, who reflected on the signing of the armistice following World War I, “Commemorate this day with thanksgiving and prayer to perpetuate peace through good will and mutual understanding.” He went on to state, “One thing we can all agree on, is that those who have chosen to serve our country – past, present and future – are worthy of our respect, our admiration and our gratitude.”

Members of each branch of the military were also recognized during the playing of each branch’s anthem on bagpipes by Patrick Salmon, and the National Anthem was sung by Allison Acompañado.
