Although the official National Night Out is only the night of Aug. 2, The Woodlands really gets into the spirit of things. The festivities kick off in June with a neighborhood party registration drive and last all the way until September, when the residents of Grogan's Point hold their National Night Out celebration.

For many people the highlight of The Woodlands elaborate, and somewhat overlong, celebration of National Night Out is the annual Boots vs. Badges softball game on Aug. 20. The game sees members of the Montgomery and Harris County law enforcement community team up against members of The Woodlands Fire Department.
