ACROSS AMERICA — The auction to win a seat on the first Blue Origin space flight with humans aboard ended this weekend when the bidding hit $28 million, according to a report from The Washington Post. The winning bidder will be alongside Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and Mark Bezos, Jeff Bezos's brother on the New Shepard spacecraft when it makes its first crewed voyage on July 20.

The identity of the winning bidder won't be announced for a few weeks, but ahead of the July 20 launch scheduled for west Texas.

Nearly 7,600 bidders from 159 countries sought the space seat along Bezos, far exceeding what Blue Origin officials expected, according to The Post. The Blue Origin flight will only last about 10 minutes, but those on board will be able to view Earth from space and experience about four minutes of weightlessness.
