Simmons' home has gone up for sale a little less than a year after his death last summer.

The fitness guru and media personality died July 13 at his Los Angeles home just a day after celebrating his 76th birthday, according to multiple reports citing his representative and law enforcement.

A month later, Simmons' family revealed the circumstances surrounding his death.

A representative of Simmons' family issued a statement to People on Aug. 21 detailing Simmons' cause of death, citing information from the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner provided to Simmons' brother.

"Richard's death was accidental due to complications from recent falls and heart disease as a contributing factor. The toxicology report was negative other than medication Richard had been prescribed," reads the statement.

After Simmons' death, the Los Angeles Police Department said no foul play was expected, though his cause of death was deferred by the medical examiner pending additional tests.

Simmons became synonymous with fitness early in his career as the star of "The Richard Simmons Show," a 1980s talk show with a focus on personal health and fitness, and later through his "Sweatin' to the Oldies" line of aerobics videos.

Simmons also became a media personality through his frequent appearances in television shows, such as the "Late Show with David Letterman," "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" and "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," as well as radio programs like "The Howard Stern Show."

Celebrities Sell Their Homes

Simmons' estate is certainly not the first celebrity home to hit the market in recent months.

Blockbuster movie star and former "Captain America" actor Chris Evans listed his stunning Los Angeles home for nearly $7 million late last month.

Also in May, "Annie Hall" and "The Godfather" star Diane Keaton knocked $1.4 million off the $27.5 million price tag of her Pinterest-inspired Los Angeles home.

In Connecticut, "Real Housewives of New York City" star Bethenny Frankel listed her Greenwich home, which was built in 1743, for sale off-market in April as she makes a move to Florida.

Nearby in New Canaan, Conn., a 12-bedroom home recently rented out by iconic pop star Mariah Carey and featured in one of her music videos was listed for sale earlier this year.
