Bird Strike Diverts Las Vegas-Bound Flight To New York

The bird strike happened late Monday afternoon after the plane took off from Boston Logan International Airport.

LAS VEGAS, NV — A JetBlue plane from Boston to Las Vegas had to make an emergency detour to New York on Monday when it struck birds shortly after takeoff. The bird strike happened late Monday afternoon after taking off from Boston Logan International Airport.

Flight 877 successfully made an emergency landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport just before 7:30 p.m., JetBlue Airways Corp. spokeswoman Sharon Jones said.

The plane was diverted "out of an abundance of caution," Jones said. All passengers were to be transported on a different plane, she said.
