Earthquake Strikes Oklahoma, Felt Across 7 States
U.S. Geological Survey records 5.1-magnitude quake centered 100 miles from Oklahoma City.

The U.S. Geological Survey said a 5.1 magnitude earthquake struck northwest Oklahoma on Saturday and was felt across seven other states.
No injuries have been reported.
The quake approached a record for Oklahoma, nearing the 5.6-magnitude quake in 2011. That quake, centered in Prague, damaged 200 buildings, according to The Associated Press.

Saturday’s quake struck at 11:07 a.m. about 17 miles north of Fairview, about 100 miles northwest from Oklahoma City, the USGS reported. A second earthquake measured at magnitude 3.9 struck about 10 minutes later.
The quake could be felt in Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Nebraska, Texas, Arkansas and Iowa, according to the AP.

The AP reported that the temblors are the latest in a series of earthquakes linked to the injection of wastewater underground from oil and gas production.
