FBI Arresting Jan. 6 Rioters For Attacks On Journalists: Report
While there's no law addressing attacks on journalists, offenders are being charged with violence, property destruction on Capitol grounds.

WASHINGTON, DC — Hundreds of people have been arrested and are facing charges in connection with the Jan. 6 riot on U.S. Capitol grounds. Now, investigators are turning their attention to another group — those who targeted journalists and damaged their equipment during the violent attack.
The arrests follow the first charge against someone accused of targeting a journalist, The Washington Post reported.
Shane Jason Woods, 43, of Illinois was charged with engaging in violence on the Capitol grounds as well as assaulting a law enforcement officer, the Post reported. Authorities say Woods was caught on video knocking a cameraman to the ground.

While no federal law exists specifically addressing violence toward journalists, the Justice Department is charging people with committing violence on the restricted grounds of the Capito or destroying property on the Capitol grounds.
