H&M Model's Mom: 'Get Over' Ad Said To Be Racist
The ad featuring a black child in sweatshirt that said "coolest monkey in the jungle" created a backlash.

NEW YORK, NY — H&M was dogged with accusations of racism and insensitivity after one of its ads featuring a black child wearing a sweatshirt bearing the phrase "coolest monkey in the jungle" was reposted and derided across social media. The company has since taken down the image and withdrawn the garment, but comments defending the ad from a woman said to be the boy's mom have now surfaced.
“Am the mum and this is one of hundreds of outfits my son has modeled … Stop crying Wolf all the time, unnecessary issue here… Get over it," said Terry Mango on Facebook. The post has since been deleted, but photos on Mango's profile show her posing with a child who appears to be the model in the ad.
She also said she had been at all of her son's photo shoots, including the episode that featured the sweatshirt in question.

"Have you lost your damned minds?!?!?!" he wrote, tweeting out a screenshot of the photo.
The Weeknd, a popular R&B performer, said he was breaking his ties with the company over the issue.
"woke up this morning shocked and embarrassed by this photo. i’m deeply offended and will not be working with @hm anymore..." he wrote.
