Healthcare.Gov 2020 Open Enrollment Extended To Wed., 3 A.M, EST

Do you need health insurance? Do you need insurance. The last day for open enrollment for Healthcare.gov is now Wednesday at 3 a.m., EST.

If you need health insurance and plan to enroll for coverage under the Affordable Care Act, also known as "Obamacare," you may have thought that you were out of luck. The deadline was Sunday night.

A technical glitch on Sunday stopped many people from enrolling. the new deadline is 3 a.m. E.ST. on Wednesday.

The government has a website where people can go and enroll for one of several plans.

All you have to do is go to the site.

There you will find two options – one for people applying for the first time and one for people who need to renew or change their current plan.

The site also has a guide to the different plans including prices. Just go here and take a look before you start enrolling.

Government statistics show that enrollment in plans have dropped around 250,000 compared to the same period in 2018. Health care advocates attribute the drop to less promotion of the plan by the Trump administration, which has sought to do away with the program.
