Indiana Woman Sentenced For Storming Capitol On Jan. 6

Anna Morgan-Lloyd, a 49-year-old hair salon owner, is the first person to be sentenced in connection with the violent insurrection.

WASHINGTON, DC — An Indiana woman on Wednesday became the first person to be sentenced for taking part in the Jan. 6 insurrection on the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.

A judge on Wednesday sentenced Anna Morgan-Lloyd, 49, to three years' probation and 40 hours of community service. Morgan-Lloyd also was ordered to pay $500 in restitution.

Morgan-Lloyd is one of more than 500 people who have been charged in connection with the riot, which took place when a group of Donald Trump supporters stormed the Capitol in an attempt to stop the certification of the 2020 presidential election.

"Probation comes once in a lifetime," the judge told Morgan-Lloyd in court. "This is your once."
