WASHINGTON, DC — President Joe Biden on Thursday announced that a bipartisan deal has been reached on a massive infrastructure package designed to pump billions into the nation's roads, bridges, public transportation and more.

Earlier in the day, Biden met with five Democrat and five Republican senators after the group spent weeks negotiating the details of the package.

The new proposal is nowhere near Biden's original $4 trillion proposal. The new package calls for $973 billion to be spent over five years, with $579 billion of it being new spending that was not already allocated through other projects, according to details released by the White House.
