Plus, see the NFL playoff schedule and watch live as eaglets ring in the new year.

Good morning Patchers, and happy 2017. Here's a look at some of what you need to know for the day ahead:
TURKEY'S TERROR ATTACK ON A 'PEACEFUL' ENCLAVE
Visitors to the Turkish city of Istanbul over the past decades have discovered a highly Westernized country with modern nightclubs and relative freedom from the restrictions imposed in many nearby countries. That's changing. A manhunt continues for the gunman responsible for a New Year's Eve attack that killed at least 39 people, a majority of them foreigners. Turkey, a member of NATO, has been engulfed by the dark and destabilizing forces gripping the Middle East and the surrounding regions, where everything seems to converge: terrorism, the migrant crisis, the rise of authoritarianism. (The New York Times.)

WHAT DOES TRUMP KNOW?
President-elect Donald J. Trump says he'll reveal on Tuesday or Wednesday “things that other people don’t know” about reports of Russian hacking to influence the 2016 U.S. elections. Trump says no computer is safe and that sensitive communications should be written on paper and delivered by courier. (The New York Times.)

AND WHAT DOES TRUMP NOT KNOW?
The president-elect's continued skepticism that Russia had a hand in influencing the election — despite the findings of U.S. intelligence agencies — has analysts worried that Russia and other countries will be emboldened to increase their cyber attacks. (The Washington Post.)

NORTH KOREA 'CLOSE' TO TESTING INTER-CONTINENTAL MISSILE
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said his country is in the “last stage” of preparations to test-fire an intercontinental ballistic missile, refusing to slow his nuclear-arms development. Since taking power in late 2011, the North Korean leader has concentrated on developing nuclear-armed missiles that could reach the United States. The country has refused to accept U.S. demands to freeze its arms development before the two sides can resume international disarmament talks.
