The Love Letter Everyone Could Use This Valentine's Day

To celebrate Valentine's Day, we asked Patch readers to write a love letter to that special someone and let us deliver it. This Fred Zapolo's love letter to everyone on Valentine’s Day:

Valentine’s Day was made up, yes it is true; to express the love, between...two.

But why does it stop there, as there are many we love? Valentine’s Day should be a day to celebrate, all the gifts from above

Like family and friends, health and success; the fact we have breath, and the ability to be our best

To see through the fake and to realize who’s real; it should be more than a day, it should be every time you feel

Feel the love for another or feel the love of just life; if you’re married, guys, I hope more than this day, you celebrate your wife

And women, you too, celebrate your man; he may not be perfect, but I bet he’s doing the best he can

You see, for me, this day has new meaning, yes it’s true; I’ve been through a lot, as many of you too

And what I’ve realized is, this day may be too late; to tell that special someone, so never hesitate

To express your love, however you see fit; don’t wait until this day, and I’ll bet you’ll be a hit

With whomever you love, or whatever it may be; the girl next door, or the flowers on a tree

Love has been so commercialized, and often said with no meaning; so tell that special someone, whenever your heart is feeling

I’m not saying skip this day, just give it a thought; if love is real and true, this day doesn’t need to be bought

And filled with gifts, flowers and dinner; if you had the love of life yesterday, you were already a winner

So don’t forget tomorrow, and the days to come; because we only get one life to live, to love and to have fun

So remember each day, and let that special someone know what they mean; and if there isn’t a significant other, spread your love to anyone in need

Because one thing we’re missing, in this crazy new world; is the true meaning of love, the love of old

The love that cost nothing, but a simple act; it’s time that love of old, finds its way back
