'NO PLACE IN CHICAGO OR ANYWHERE ELSE'
Four young adults accused of kidnapping and torturing an 18-year-old with mental health challenges, then broadcasting it on Facebook, go before a judge for their bail hearing today in Chicago. The city's top cop has said the video, which included shouts of "F--- Donald Trump" and "F--- white people," has "no place" in the city, or elsewhere. (Patch)
BIG FAN OF INTELLIGENCE
President-elect Donald Trump is expected to receive a long-awaited intelligence briefing today regarding Russian hacking and interference with the 2016 presidential campaign. Trump has cast doubt on the merits of the information well before receiving the report. Still, the president-elect assures, he is "a big fan" of intelligence. (Twitter and Patch)

Countering the president-elect's skepticism, U.S. intelligence officials made clear yesterday that Russia was undoubtedly involved in the cybersecurity breaches related to the presidential election. "We stand actually more resolutely on the strength of that statement than" when the news was first disclosed in October, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee. New guidelines for parents and doctors from the National Institutes of Health out yesterday say feeding babies peanut foods is a way to prevent serious allergies. The findings are a reversal of long-standing medical doctrine regarding an incurable and sometimes-deadly childhood allergy. (Patch)

An escaped prisoner will face charges in Rhode Island federal court today after authorities say he scaled a basketball hoop and cut through a wire fence then spent the better part of a week on the lam. He was caught yesterday after unsuccessfully trying to rob not one but two banks just outside Boston. (Patch)
