Posting On Patch Just Got Way Better — Thanks To You
We asked how we could make posting events and announcements on Patch easier, and we heard you loud and clear.
Patch has always been a place where you can share what’s going on around town. Whether it’s an event taking place next weekend or an announcement about a new business, posts by community members are a huge part of our DNA. And this month, we’re making it easier than ever for you to join the conversation.
We asked readers across the country what they thought of posting on Patch to find out how we could make it better. Well, we heard you!
Check out these awesome new features just launched for locals like you:
Readership data
For the first time ever, you can see readership data for Patch communities before you choose where to share and promote your event or announcement. This will give you a better sense of the audience you could reach with a promoted post.
Free local announcements
Starting now, you can post a local announcement for free! This is a great option if you just want to spread the word about what’s going on in only your community without paying for promotion in nearby towns or neighborhoods.
A seamless posting tool
Finally, our new enhanced posting form makes it easier than ever to select the communities where you want to promote your post.
Ready to get started? It's as easy as 1, 2, 3:
- Register for a free Patch account
- Create a new event or announcement and fill it with all the local goodness you want to share
- Post it — for free — to one community! Just click the “Post now” button at the bottom of the form. Events will post straight to the local calendar of the community you’ve selected. Announcements will be posted to the local Bulletin Board for your home community.
Looking to reach more people? It's simple. Here's how:
Beneath the “Post now” button, you’ll see a new way to promote your events and announcements. To get started, click on the communities where you’d like your post to be promoted. You’ll see the community name and the average number of page views on that community in a given week.
As you check off various communities, you’ll see a running total of the potential reach your post could get if promoted in those places. You’ll also see the total cost once you promote.
Once you’re done, click “Promote Now,” enter your credit card number and post away!
Remember, promoted posts are just $7 per community and get prime placement on Patch news pages, articles and in a dedicated social post in all communities where they are shared.
Promoted announcements will be featured for seven days after they are posted, and promoted events are featured seven days before the date they take place.
