Prince Phillip’s life spanned nearly a century of European history, starting with his birth as a member of the Greek royal family and ending as Britain's longest-serving consort during a reign in which the thousand-year-old monarchy was forced to reinvent itself for the 21st century.

Philip spent a month in hospital earlier this year before being released on March 16 to return to Windsor Castle.

The funeral will be broadcast live on TV and radio to allow people around the world “to take part in mourning The Duke,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement.

CNN and Fox News are expected to begin coverage at 9 a.m. ET, while CBS, ABC, and NBC News will start live coverage at 9:30 a.m. ET.

PBS will also stream the event online starting at 8 a.m. ET.

Queen Elizabeth and other members of the royal family will take part in the event. Attendance is limited to 30 because of England’s coronavirus restrictions.

The Duke’s four children with the Queen and several grandchildren, including Princes William and Harry, will also attend the service.
