VAN BUREN, AR ? An Arkansas company is recalling approximately 26,550 pounds of boneless chicken bites over concerns the products may contain pieces of plastic.

On Friday, Simmons Prepared Foods Inc. recalled the TGI Fridays chicken bites after consumers complained about finding bits of clear, hard plastic under the breading, according to a recall alert posted on the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service website.

The recall affects the following products produced on Oct. 3:

  • 15-oz. carton containing "TGI FRIDAYS BONELESS CHICKEN BITES HONEY BBQ CHICKEN" with lot code KL3K03 and best-by date of 12/26/2024 located on the side of the carton.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number "P-20287" inside the USDA mark of inspection. According to the company, the product was shipped to retail locations nationwide.

The company has not received any reports of injury or illness related to the recalled products, according to the alert.

Consumers are urged to check their freezers and not eat the chicken bites. The product should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for a refund.
