Select Committee Called On To Investigate Jan. 6 Capitol Riot
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has introduced a resolution that could be approved by the House of Representatives as early as Wednesday.

WASHINGTON — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Monday introduced a resolution that, if approved, would create a select committee to investigate the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol that left five people dead. The resolution is expected to get a vote in the chamber this week, according to CNN, and does not need approval from the Senate.
The committee will be made up of 13 members, eight appointed by Pelosi and five by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy.
Senate Republicans used a filibuster to block legislation that would have created a bipartisan commission to investigate the insurrection. Now, the select committee will likely be run by mostly House Democrats.
