Most multi-million-dollar estate owners want their privacy, away from gawkers trying to peek at the inhabitants behind the gates. But a tech company owner who does work for the National Security Agency and the CIA has put his gated manor house — with a spy-proof roof — on the market in Anne Arundel County.

The walls of this Italianate mansion in Detroit’s Boston-Edison Historic District are more likely to sing than talk. And, oh, what songs and stories they would sing and tell! Legendary Motown founder and songwriter Berry Gordy Jr. bought the mansion in 1967 and lived there full-time from 1967 until the early 1970s, when he moved to Los Angeles.
He used the mansion as his home base when business brought him back home to Detroit until 2002, when he sold the property to current owner Cynthia Reaves, who has won awards for her classic restoration of the property.
