Trump Toilet Paper Will Be Made In Mexico

Buy a roll of Trump Paper and you'll help deportees, promises Mexican attorney who created the new "softness without borders" toilet paper.

Donald Trump, with his campaign talk of "bad hombres" from Mexico, made Antonio Battaglia so angry, he decided to fight back — with "softness" for your bottom. The Mexican businessman plans to produce and sell toilet paper, with a portion of the proceeds going to help people who've been deported back to Mexico.

"I started looking for a way to do something that had an impact, not in a tone of mockery or revenge, but in a positive way," the Guanajuato-based businessman told Expansión, a business publication in Mexico.

The package label features a bushy-browed roll of paper topped with Trump's recognizable golden swoop and upturned thumb. Battaglia said he registered the trademark in Mexico in 2015 a few months after Trump declared his bid for the presidency and began capturing attention with one jaw-dropping insult after another.

"When do we beat Mexico at the border? They’re laughing at us, at our stupidity," Trump said on June 16, 2015, when he announced his run for the GOP nomination. "And now they are beating us economically. They are not our friend, believe me. But they’re killing us economically. The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else’s problems. ...

"When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. ... They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."

In a tweet, Trump called Mexico an "enemy" of the American people.

And then came his promise to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.

And then his promise to make Mexico pay for that wall.

"Mexico is going to pay for the wall," Trump said in 2016. "We have a trade deficit with Mexico of $58 billion a year — $58 billion. The wall is going to cost $10 billion. It’s so easy. I’ve had these guys that I’m on the stage with go you don’t really mean Mexico is going to pay for the wall. One — as sure as you’re standing there, 100 percent, Mexico’s going to pay, 100 percent."

Trump's Mexico-bashing was all just a little too much for Battaglia, a lawyer whose family manufactures shoes in Mexico. Battaglia told Expansíon production of his Trump-inspired buttwipes should begin later this year.

“If this generates a business for me that’s secondary," he said. "What I want is to leave something useful that supports migrants and deportees."

The toilet paper's slogan is "softness without borders." The paper will be made and sold in Mexico, but maybe some of the product will manage to find its way north of the border.

And, as litigious as the Trump Organization is with its own trademarks, Battaglia may well find himself facing a legal challenge to his use of the Trump name and likeness on tushy tissue.
