Trump: 'There's No Violence' At My Rallies

"Do you know how many people have been hurt at our rallies?" Trump said. "I think, like, basically none."

Donald Trump had a sit-down chat with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie in Hickory, North Carolina Monday, during which he said there’s “no violence” at his rallies.

“Do you know how many people have been hurt at our rallies?” Trump said. “I think, like, basically none.”

Trump’s claims come on the same day North Carolina investigators are considering charging him with inciting a riot after a protester was sucker-punched by a Trump supporter at a rally last week.

Trump alluded to the sucker-punch, saying, “Other than I guess maybe somebody got hit once.”

“But, there's no violence,” he added.

Trump has told supporters in the recent past to “knock the crap out of” protesters who may be ready to throw a tomato at the Republican presidential frontrunner. “I will pay for the legal fees. I promise,” Trump said at a Feb. 1 rally in Iowa.

Trump pointed to the cancellation of a Chicago rally last Friday as an example of his anti-violence position.

“And you know in Chicago, we cancelled because I didn't want to see [violence]. There was this huge group of people formed. Like, 3,000. We were going to have 25,000 people in Chicago,” Trump said Monday. “They've given me a lot of credit, Chris [Christie], because rather than having the rally and having people fighting, because we feel great. The people that are supporters of Donald Trump want to see America be great again. That's what it is.”

Trump has comfortable leads in Florida, Illinois and North Carolina ahead of the primary elections Tuesday. Ohio Gov. John Kasich has a three point lead in Ohio, according to the latest Real Clear Politics polling average.
