ACROSS AMERICA — What started as a routine school board meeting in Virginia quickly unraveled this week after a crowd of residents turned unruly while protesting critical race theory and a proposed district policy supporting transgender students.

Dozens of residents attended Tuesday’s Loudoun County School Board meeting to condemn recent actions by the board, including a proposed policy that would have teachers refer to students by their preferred names and pronouns.

One man said he was disappointed with the "radical racist and immoral propaganda that passes as an education in Loudoun County." The man also said the School Board reminded him of "communist China." Another’s microphone was cut off when he told board members he was "disgusted by your bigotry and your depravity."

"The gentleman basically falls to the floor, sits there for a few minutes, and then gets up," the owner of the Citgo gas station in Crestwood told Patch editor Lorraine Swanson. "He then starts sprinting towards the front door screaming, 'I won, I won the Mega Millions.' That happened on June 15, and we haven't seen him since." Read the story on Crestwood-Alsip Patch
