Clearwater Cyclist Killed In Road Collision

CLEARWATER, FL — Craig Allen McKown, 59, was killed after he was struck walking his bike across Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard in Clearwater, local police reported.

Officials were called to the scene at 7:36 p.m. Tuesday, according to a police report.

McKown was hit by a Chevy Cavalier driving in the median lane, police said. The collision reportedly knocked the bike into the Westbound lanes, where it was hit again.

The police shut down the road to investigate, and Mckown was taken to the hospital. He died because of his injuries at Morton Plant Hospital that night.
