WASHINGTON, DC — The House Oversight and Reform Committee has voted to subpoena Kellyanne Conway, a counselor to President Donald Trump, to testify. The vote comes after Conway skipped out on a hearing at which a special counsel told the House panel she should be fired for repeatedly violating the Hatch Act, which stipulates that government officials cannot engage in political activities while on the clock.

The special counsel, Henry J. Kerner, stated that Conway's violations and "unrepentant attitude are unacceptable from any federal employee, let alone one in such a prominent position," The New York Times reported.

Rep. Elijah Cummings, the chairman of the Committee, said he is prepared to hold Conway in contempt should she not comply with the subpoena.
