Jimmy Kimmel: Trump Is 'Horrible Thing That Happened To Republican Party'

The late-night comedian again dedicated his monologue to the subject of health care reform.

After a week of sparring with Republican lawmakers and partisan pundits about health care reform, namely the GOP's Graham-Cassidy bill, late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel spent the weekend in three different cities, where he said he experienced overwhelming support for his comments.

Hundreds of strangers, he said, came up to him and told him the Affordable Care Act, aka, Obamacare, saved or drastically improved their lives or the life of a family member.

"Mr. Fallon, thank you for speaking out," they told him, Kimmel joked. (For more national political news, sign up for the free White House Patch email newsletter.)

Kimmel noted that Obamacare opponents, including President Trump, have repeatedly called the ACA "a disaster."

"Did anyone have to tell you Hurricane Harvey was a disaster? If someone has to keep telling you something is a disaster, it probably isn't," he said.

Kimmel then showed a clip of Trump ripping Sen. John McCain for coming out against Graham-Cassidy, calling the moment "a horrible horrible thing that happened to the Republican Party."

"...said the horrible, horrible thing that happened to the Republican Party," Kimmel retorted.
