Question Of The Week: Is President Trump Right To Go After Obamacare?

President Trump calls the Affordable Care Act a "disaster."

Throughout his campaign for the presidency and well into his first month in office, Donald Trump repeatedly told Americans that the Affordable Care Act, aka "Obamacare," has been a disaster and needed to be repealed and replaced.

No problem. Or so Trump implied.

Reality raised its stubborn head last week when Trump conceded this about health care to the nation's governors: “I have to tell you, it’s an unbelievably complex subject. Nobody knew that health care could be so complicated.”

Obamacare, it turns out, is looking to Democrats and an increasing number of Republicans a lot like democracy looks to forms of government. That is, they see Obamacare as the worst possible solution to affordable insurance — except for every other option.

Now, after seven years of pledging to repeal Obamacare, Republicans have finally released a plan to do just that.

"Our wonderful new Healthcare Bill is now out for review and negotiation," the president said in a Tweet Tuesday morning. "ObamaCare is a complete and total disaster - is imploding fast!"
