Robert Mueller Seeks To Interview President Trump: Report

The Washington Post reports that the special counsel will question Trump about Michael Flynn and James Comey.

WASHINGTON, DC — President Trump may soon face an interview with special counsel Robert Mueller's team. According to a report from The Washington Post, Mueller is seeking to interview the president about the firings of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn and FBI Director James Comey within the next few weeks.

At a press conference in early January, Trump was asked if he would agree to an interview with Mueller. He said, "We'll see what happens" but also that it "seems unlikely you'd even have an interview." He had previously told reporters that he was willing to testify under oath that Comey had lied during his senate testimony about their interactions.

The Associated Press reported Tuesday that Attorney General Jeff Sessions had been grilled by the special counsel last week. Session is likely the highest-ranking official to go before Mueller's team yet. The New York Times also reported Tuesday that Comey has been interviewed by the special counsel.

After Trump fired Comey as FBI director, Mueller was appointed to lead the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election and potential collusion with the Trump campaign. Reports suggest that he may also be investigating whether Trump has tried to obstruct the investigation.
