Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart Offer 'Equal Time' For President Trump

The former Comedy Central hosts joined forces after President Trump ripped "unfunny" late-night hosts and asked for equal time.

Over the weekend, President Trump took issue with late-night TV hosts' "always anti-Trump" remarks, also tweeting, "Should we get Equal Time?"

"I know that one. No," Stephen Colbert said during his Monday night monologue. "That's not how this works. You're the president, we make fun of you. But we're going to do it anyway, just to make you feel better, sir."

Colbert than brought out "another host" to offer balance to his "unfunny" (Trump's words) anti-presidential quips: Jon Stewart. (For more national political news, sign up for the free White House Patch email newsletter.)

After Colbert's first dig at Trump, he told Stewart to say something positive. Stewart struggled, asked for more time, then stammered, "Donald Trump is not a cannibal."

Stewart continued to struggle with his role as a positive counterbalance to Colbert's rhetoric, at one point pausing before deciding whether he'd rather have hot lava poured into a private part or have Trump as president.
