Watch Sean Spicer On Jimmy Kimmel: Trump Tweets, Crowd Size And 'The Mooch'

The former White House press secretary and frequent foil for the press shed some light on his time as a Trump aide.

Former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" Thursday night, sharing his thoughts on President Trump's infamous tweets, short-term coworker Anthony Scaramucci, his own battle with the press corps over the crowd size at Trump's inauguration and his thoughts on Melissa McCarthy's Emmy-winning impersonation of him.

Despite some of Trump's tweets turning out to be regrettable, it continues to be the president's preferred platform for getting out his message. Spicer told Kimmel he never attempted to pre-screen the tweets before they went out. The president's social media aptitude, Spicer said, is “one of the president’s most effective tools in the campaign.” (For more national political news, sign up for the free White House Patch email newsletter.)

Of Scaramucci, Spicer said friction with "The Mooch" is not why he quit, but he said his former colleague lacked “the qualifications or the background to work in the communications office.”

On the tense back-and-forth with the media regarding the size of the inauguration crowd, Spicer said the president just wanted to "set the record straight."
