President Trump's firing of FBI Director James Comey has generated a storm of criticism, including among some lawmakers in his own party, and details have emerged painting a picture of a White House that was not prepared for the fallout.
The official reason for the firing was that the president had lost faith in Comey, primarily because of his handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation. The claim was made despite Trump's praise during the 2016 election of Comey for his handling of the Clinton investigation.
