WASHINGTON, D.C. — On the heels of an explosive report about a whistleblower in the U.S. intelligence community filing a complaint about the "troubling" promise President Trump allegedly made to a foreign leader, The New York Times is reporting that the episode in question may involve the Ukraine.

In response to the allegations, the president took to Twitter, at first calling the story "Fake News," and later, tweeting that "I would only do what is right anyway, and only do good for the USA!,” while acknowledging that his approach to interactions with foreign leaders is "more freewheeling than typical high-level diplomacy," per the Times.

Trump's dealings with the Ukraine had already been under some scrutiny, telling its leader back in July that his country could improve its relationship with the U.S. by investigating corruption. It is also alleged that allies of Trump's were urging the Ukrainian leadership to explore matters that might negatively impact front-running Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his family.
